Trujillo Ramirez Sentencing

A woman and her boyfriend were sentenced today in connection with the death of the woman’s 2-year-old daughter last February.

 

Laura Trujillo (DOB: 6-12-83) was sentenced to 2 years in the Denver County Jail. 

 

Randy Ramirez (DOB: 8-25-81) was sentenced to 30 years in  prison. 

 

Laura Trujillo was originally charged with child abuse resulting in death, a class 2 felony. She was found guilty by an Denver jury of reckless child abuse, a class 1 misdemeanor. 

 

Randy Ramirez, Trujillo’s boyfriend, pleaded guilty earlier this year to child abuse resulting in death and agreed to testify at Trujillo’s trial. 

 

Trujillo’s daughter, Aliza Reighgard (pronounced “AL-uh-zay”), died on February 2, 2003 suffering injuries to her head, skull fractures, bleeding around the brain, and injuries to her abdomen from a punch or hit.
