ELDERLY MAN CHARGED IN FRIEND’S MURDER

73-year-old Richard Vanhartesvelt (DOB: 2-1-30) has been formally charged with first-degree murder today, in connection with the death of 68-year-old Irving Henny last week.

The charge alleges that the two men, who were long-time friends, were at Vanhartesvelt’s Denver home on April 2, 2003 when an argument occurred.  Denver police officers who responded to the home on April 3, 2003 found Henny’s body lying on the living room floor with apparent stab wounds.  Vanhartesvelt remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  He will appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on April 10, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. to be advised of the charge.
