CHARGES FILED IN PARK HILL HOME-INVASION CASE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with an attack on a Florida couple and a Denver realtor who was showing them a home for sale in the Park Hill neighborhood just over a week ago.

John Mac Wiles (DOB: 8-19-65) is charged with two counts of sexual assault (F2 and F3), three counts of second-degree kidnapping (F2 and F3), two counts of aggravated robbery (F3), and two counts of first-degree burglary (F3).

The charges allege that Wiles confronted the victims in a home that was for sale in the 2200 block of Dahlia on August 2, 2003.  The charges further allege that he bound all three victims before sexually assaulting one and then stealing two purses from the women.

Media coverage of the incident resulted in numerous tips that led the Denver Police Department to identify a suspect and later to locate him in Wichita, Kansas.  He was arrested in Wichita on August 6, 2003 and will be extradited to Colorado to face the charges listed above.
