grand jury indicts FATHER in baby’s death

a Denver Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a man in connection with the March 21, 2003 death of his 10-week-old son.

Walter Lashawn Williams, aka Shawn Williams (DOB: 5-10-79) has been charged by indictment with first-degree murder (F1) and child abuse resulting in death (F2).

The indictment was handed down Thursday, April 24, 2003 and was unsealed today following his arrest. Williams is scheduled to appear in court on May 1, 2003, at 8:30 a.m. in Denver District Court, room 8, to be advised of the charges.

The indictment alleges that Williams was caring for his infant son, Donovan, on March 21, 2003 when that baby stopped breathing and later died due to blunt force trauma, “consistent with a person shaking or shaking and striking the child.”  The baby’s mother was out of town at the time.
