WOMAN CHARGED FOR ELUDING POLICE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr., has formally filed charges against a woman accused of eluding police officers in Denver on November 14,  2003.

Stephanie Redearth (DOB: 3-21-78) was charged with vehicular eluding (F4), aggravated motor vehicle theft (F4), vehicular assault/recklessness (F5) and third degree assault (F3).

The charges allege that Officer Heck stopped Redearth for driving a stolen vehicle at Dartmouth and Federal Ave.  When he attempted to open the driver’s side door, the suspect sped off, running over Officer Heck’s foot.  Responding officer Nuannez followed the suspect and attempted to pull her over.  Redearth did not pull over and continued on towards Dartmouth and Zuni where she ran a red light and struck a Ford Expedition. She continued southbound on Zuni and came to rest after hitting a street sign and a fence.  Redearth was apprehended at the scene and was taken to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment.  The driver of the Expedition suffered minor injuries and the passenger, who was ejected, suffered serious head injuries.  Both were taken to DHMC for treatment.

Redearth remains in jail and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 12T on November 24, 2003 at 9:00 am for her second advisement.
