CHARGES FILED IN VIDEO PEEPING CASE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed charges today against a man accused of looking underneath women’s skirts and dresses with a video camera.

Yamil Yapor (DOB: 8-31-63) is charged with endangering public transportation (F3) and unlawful sexual contact (M1).

On June 26, 2003 a citizen approached a Denver police officer on routine patrol along the 16th Street Mall to report seeing a man holding a video camera at street level who appeared to be videotaping up women’s skirts and dresses.  Police later found a man matching the suspect’s description.  The investigation revealed that as many as 15 women may have unknowingly been videotaped, many as they rode on the mall’s free shuttle.  Yamil Yapor was arrested yesterday, July 15, 2003 and was formally charged today.

He has been released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. in room 12T to be advised of the charges.
