LIBRARY ATTACKER FOUND INSANE

A 52-year-old man who attacked a woman last year in the children’s section of the Denver Public Library was found insane in Denver District Court today.  Tommy Lee Young (DOB: 5-3-51) was immediately committed to the Colorado State Hospital.

The victim of the attack attended today’s hearing and told the judge she was grateful that it wasn’t a child who was attacked.  On January 15, 2002, she was standing in the children’s section of the main library when a man put his hand over her mouth, brought a knife up to her face, and began to stab and cut her.  He ran away as people came to help the screaming woman.  Police later arrested Young nearby based on witness information.
