CASE FILINGS – TWO CHILD ABUSE CASES

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed charges today against a Denver father accused of allowing his small children to smoke marijuana with him.

 

Jackie Ellison (DOB: 9-4-76) is charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor (F6), two counts of transferring marijuana to a person under 15 (F4), and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse (M2).

 

The charges allege that during his parenting time with his 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, Ellison smoked marijuana and allowed both children to smoke marijuana. He remains in custody and will be advised of the charges on Friday, October 3, 2003 in Denver County Court, room 12T, at 8:30 a.m.

In a separate case filed today, charges have been filed against a man accused of firing a gun into the air while walking home with two children.

 

Gerald Lucero (DOB: 1-21-56) is charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender (F6), prohibited use of a weapon (M2), reckless endangerment (M3) and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse (M2).

 

The charges allege that Lucero, a grandfather-figure to two boys, was walking with the boys, ages 7 and 8, near 40th and Tejon last Friday, September 26, 2003, and pulled out a gun, firing it into the air.  Lucero remains in custody and will be advised of the charges on Friday, October 3, 2003 in Denver County Court, room 12T, at 8:30 a.m.
