DA BILL RITTER PROVIDES ECSTASY INFORMATION
December 12, 2001

Contact: Lynn Kimbrough, 720-913-9025

The Denver District Attorney’s Office, in cooperation with the Denver Police Department, has developed and distributed the brochure "Ecstasy: Myth vs. Reality." The new informational brochure on the so-called "club drug" Ecstasy is now available in both hard copy and online formats at select locations and www.DenverDA.org

In addition to being online, the brochure has been distributed to students through Denver Public Schools and is available to the public at the Denver Public Library main branch, the lobby of Denver Health Medical Center, and the Denver DA’s Office at 303 West Colfax Avenue.

According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, among high school students surveyed in the year 2000, more than 8% of 12th graders, more than 5% of 10th graders, and just more than 3% of 8th graders stated that they had used Ecstasy in the past year. The brochure provides accurate information to parents about health issues, distribution and legal consequences surrounding the use of Ecstasy.
