Green Hornet is a form of herbal ecstasy that is marketed in a liquid preparation intended for consumption to get “high” or “roll” or “party all night.” The label on the container states that it contains several different herbs, natural and artificial flavoring. The FDA as well as the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center has obtained a sample of this product for analysis. Green Hornet was found to contain two over-the-counter medications: Dextromethorphan and Diphenhydramine that are not listed on the package ingredients. There are also other unstudied ingredients. In overdose these medications can cause hallucinations as well as seizures, fast heart rate, high blood pressure, dangerously high body temperature and severe, possibly fatal, interactions with other popular prescription medications including antidepressants and MAO inhibitors.
