Convicted Murderer Sentenced for Killing 16 year-old Girl and Injuring Another Teenager
DENVER — Denver District Attorney Beth McCann today announced that Judge Ericka Englert sentenced 18 year-old Deontre Hollie to seven years in the Colorado Youthful Offender System and suspended a 40-year sentence in the Department of Corrections.
On June 21, 2024, Hollie pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree assault in the case.
In December of 2022, Hollie shot and killed 16 year-old Tayanna Manuel and shot and injured a teenage boy in northeast Denver.
Just before the sentence was imposed, Tayanna’s mother, Pamela Jackson, told Judge Englert that “Tayanna is, and was, a beautiful, loving, caring human being and to know her was to love her.”
“By all accounts, Tayanna was a wonderful young woman with a promising future. Her death was a terrible tragedy, and my heart goes out to all who knew and loved her,” said DA McCann. “I want to thank the prosecutors, investigators and victim advocates in my office, as well as the detectives with the Denver Police Department, for their work on this case.”
