U Visa Certification Requests

How to Request U Visa Certification

The U visa program is intended to strengthen the ability of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking of immigrants and other crimes, while also protecting undocumented victims or victims in nonimmigrant status who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse due to the crime and are willing to help law enforcement authorities in the investigation or prosecution of the crime.

U Visa Certification

Undocumented victims submit a request for a U visa certification of helpfulness from the Denver District Attorney's Office. Our office determines whether the victim and the crime qualify for certification.

Important: A U visa certification DOES NOT guarantee that a U visa will be granted. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the federal agency that provides nonimmigrant status to eligible victims.
