Denver DA Charges Coban Porter with Vehicular Homicide

DENVER—Prosecutors with the Denver DA’s Office today announced that a criminal case was filed in Denver District Court against 21-year-old Coban Porter. Porter is charged with four felony counts:  vehicular homicide – DUI (F3), vehicular homicide – reckless driving (F4), vehicular assault – DUI (F4) and vehicular assault –reckless driving (F5).

In the early morning hours of January 22, 2023, Coban Porter (age 21) was arrested for being the at-fault driver in a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of S. University Blvd and E. Buchtel Blvd. Ms. Katharina Rothman, (age 42), was pronounced deceased on scene. On January 23, 2023, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner found that the cause of Ms. Rothman’s death was from blunt force injuries. A 47-year-old male passenger in Ms. Rothman’s vehicle sustained serious bodily injury.

This is case number 23CR441 and Porter is next scheduled to be in court on February 6, 2023, at 9:00 in courtroom 2300 for Second Advisement.
