Denver Judge Sentences Final Defendant in Dispensary and Stolen Car Ring
DENVER — Denver District Attorney John Walsh has announced that Demonie Young-Anderson was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA). Young-Anderson’s three co-defendants — Jeurray Ivory, Terry White and Anthony Matherson — had previously been sentenced after pleading guilty to the same charge. Ivory received 20 years in prison, White 15 years in prison and Matherson 12 years in prison.
Between December 2023 and February 2024, the four men were part of a crew responsible for approximately 40 burglaries and auto thefts throughout the Denver metro area. The primary targets were marijuana dispensaries and other businesses selling marijuana products.
“These convictions and sentences dismantled an organized crime ring that engaged in a string of serious crimes across Denver in 2023 and 2024. The streets of Denver are clearly safer because of the heavy sentences imposed on Demonie Young-Anderson and his three co-defendants,” said DA Walsh. “I want to thank the prosecutors, investigators, victim advocates and paralegals in the Organized Crime Unit here at the Denver DA’s Office, as well as Denver Police Department Detectives Alex Solano, Joseph Sartain, Gerald Sloan, Scott Olin, Brent Curtis, DPD Sgt. Josh Herko, DPD Analyst Erica Feather, TFO Neko Mendez of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement Network (RAVEN), whose outstanding, collaborative work over many months resulted in the successful resolution of this case.”
Senior Deputy District Attorneys Michael Mahon and Phil Basciano led the prosecution team for the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
