Dillan Head Receives Prison Sentence for Retail Theft Scheme to Steal High-End Vacuum Cleaners

DENVER — Denver District Attorney John Walsh has announced that Dillan Head was sentenced today to six years in prison for stealing high-end vacuum cleaners and then selling them online for money or drugs.  In March, Head pleaded guilty to one count of robbery.

Between July 24 and August 19 of last year, Head and his brother, Christian, were part of a group that went into 15 different Target stores on 18 different occasions and stole a total of 32 Dyson, Shark and iRoomba vacuum cleaners. They also stole several bicycles and other items.  The brothers then sold all the items on Facebook marketplace.  The total value of the stolen items was more than twenty-six thousand dollars.

Christian Head pleaded guilty to theft earlier this year and was sentenced to four years in prison. Both brothers, along with the other participants in these thefts, were ordered to pay restitution of more than $26,000 to the retailer.

“Retail theft is not a victimless crime – and particularly systematic, organized theft. It has far-reaching effects on countless Denver consumers, can force stores to raise prices and even to close.  The significant sentences given to Dillan and Christian Head should send the message that people who engage in organized retail theft will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” said DA Walsh.  “I want to thank the prosecutors and investigators in my office, as well as the detectives with the Denver Police Department and the Target Field Investigations Team, whose outstanding work brought about the successful resolution of this case.”
