District Attorney McCann Issues Officer-Involved Shooting Decision Letter

Investigation and Decision Re the Shooting of Dontari Alexander Hudson

DENVER—Denver District Attorney Beth McCann’s legal review of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 27, 2020, at 4775 N. Argonne St. in Denver is complete. DA McCann concluded that the shooting by Aurora Police Department Officers Paul Jerothe, Brett Iske and Michael Neumeyer was legally justified.

On August 11, 2020, prosecutors with the Denver DA’s Office filed a criminal case against 22-year old Dontari Hudson for his alleged involvement in the incident. Hudson is charged with three counts of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree (F2), five counts of assault in the first degree (F3), two counts of aggravated robbery (F3), and four counts of possessing an illegal weapon as a previous offender (F6). This is case number 20CR04631 and Hudson’s Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on October 23, 2020, in Denver District Court courtroom 4C.
