MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER, ROBBERY & ARSON
Abuse of corpse also charged
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged a man with murder and other charges in connection with the death of another man.
Tahlil Johnson (dob: 05-31-1995) is charged with two counts of murder in the first degree-felony (F1), one count of murder in the first degree-after deliberation (F1), one count of arson (F3), one count of aggravated robbery (F3), one count of aggravated motor vehicle theft (F5), and one count of abuse of a corpse (M2). The charges were direct-filed in Denver District Court on August 29. .
The charges allege that between August 21 and August 22, 2018, after 52-year-old Seth Mosee informed Johnson and a female they could no longer live with him, Johnson fatally physically beat Mr. Mosee in the victim’s apartment at 10700 E. Dartmouth Avenue. The defendant also allegedly took the victim’s motor vehicle, television, and other personal items. After Johnson and the female slept overnight in the victim’s apartment, the defendant allegedly set the deceased victim’s body on fire. Denver firefighters responding to a 911 call reporting a fire at the apartment building found the severely burned body of Mr. Mosee on an air mattress in the floor of the living room area. The fire was centralized on the mattress on which the victim was found.
The advisement hearing was held August 31. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a status hearing on September 7 at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 5G.
