MAN CONVICTED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF WIFE

A Denver District Court jury returned a verdict Tuesday against a man charged in the January 2018 shooting death of his wife.

Cain Wilkens (dob: 01-28-1974) was found guilty after a five-day jury trial of second degree murder (F2).  He was charged with one count of first degree murder (F1).

Wilkens shot his wife, 30-year-old Clarissa Wilkens, in the early morning hours of January 21, 2018, following a birthday party at their residence in the 1500 block of S. Albion Street. Wilkens alleged in a statement to police that his wife had shot herself.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 25, 2019.
