Tanner Fielder Sentenced for South Platte River Murders

DENVER — Denver District Attorney John Walsh has announced that Tanner Fielder was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On October 10, 2025, a jury convicted Fielder of two counts of First-Degree Murder.

In September of 2023, in two separate incidents, Fielder shot and killed 43-year-old Jeremy Hutcheson and 31-year-old Lluvia Robles-Banuelos along the South Platte River bike path.

“Tanner Fielder murdered two innocent, unarmed people — Jeremy Hutcheson and Lluvia Robles-Banuelos — whose deaths were a senseless tragedy.  Today’s sentence ensures that Fielder will never walk the streets of Denver again and, for that, we should all be grateful,” said DA Walsh.  “I want to thank the prosecutors, investigators and victim advocates in my office, as well as Detective Gavin Whitman with the Denver Police Department, whose outstanding work resulted in the successful resolution of this disturbing case.”

Chief Deputy District Attorney Thain Bell and Senior Deputy District Attorney Meredith D’Angelo led the prosecution team for the Denver DA’s Office.
