Deputy District Attorney / Senior Deputy District Attorney (depending on experience)
The mission of the Denver DA’s Office is to protect the community, to seek equal justice for all, and to improve the quality and fairness of criminal justice on behalf of the people of Colorado. We achieve that mission through excellence in our work investigating and prosecuting crime, supporting victims and their families, working with the community to prevent crime, and providing fair alternatives to incarceration in appropriate cases.
The office employs approximately 100 attorneys and 150 support staff, who are responsible for more than 5,000 felony and 7,000 misdemeanor prosecutions annually.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office is looking for an experienced prosecutor to join the District Court prosecuting felony cases in the City and County of Denver. Duties include:
- Assisting victims of crime through the criminal justice system.
- Maintaining a felony caseload, including making appropriate plea offers, litigating motions and preparing cases for trial.
- Conducting jury trials on complex felony cases including homicides, burglaries, robberies, first and second degree assaults, vehicular assaults, thefts, aggravated motor vehicle thefts, and sexual assaults.
- Partnering with and mentoring less experienced deputies on cases.
- Partnering with members of Denver Police Department and other community agencies.
- Periodically serving on call to provide legal advice to Denver Police Department’s homicide unit.
- Performing other duties as assigned or requested by the Assistant District Attorneys and District Attorney.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a law degree from an accredited law school
- Admission by the Supreme Court of Colorado to practice law (or licensure in progress)
- Experience managing a felony caseload and trying felony cases.
Salary Range:
$104,615 – $169,873
Salary based on relevant experience.
