Inheritance Scams

An attendee from one of our most recent seminars ‘Stand Up Against Fraud’ sent us a copy of a letter she received promising an inheritance of millions of dollars. A promise of millions of dollars in inheritance is designed to trick you into parting with your money. Note that the impostor’s deceased client just “happened to have” the same last name as the scam target. Moore. As if the last name Moore is unusual. We wonder how many other people with last name “Moore” received this letter.

In order to receive these millions of dollars, the victim would be instructed to pay money and provide her personal information to prove her rights to claim it.

Remember the old adage, “if it sounds too good to be true, it isn’t.” Even if the letter sounds official. It is a scam. Shred the document and forget you you ever received it.
