Man Receives 48-Year Prison Sentence in Vehicular Deaths of Two People on I-70 (Crawley)
DENVER—Denver District Court Judge Michael J. Vallejos sentenced Ernie Crawley (age 40) yesterday to 48 years in prison. On May 31, 2019, Crawley pleaded guilty to one count of murder in the second degree naming both deceased victims and one count of driving under the influence.
On February 18, 2018, Crawley was driving 163 miles per hour eastbound on I-70 at I-225 when he struck a car and killed then 24-year old Brandi Wilson and 21-year old Sean Moler. The driver, Quinton Kopang who was also 21-years old at the time, survived his injuries. The three were childhood friends driving home to Bennett, Colorado from downtown Denver. Crawley’s passenger, Anna McCullough then 45-years old, also sustained serious injuries.
“Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the precious young people killed in this horrendous tragedy,” said District Attorney Beth McCann. “I want to thank the team from my office for the excellent work they did in holding the defendant accountable. We cannot bring these young people back but we can bring justice to their memories”
